People are dying in the Mediterranean sea, in the Sahara desert, at the borders of Greece, Croatia, Spain. And they die in Zürich prisons. Fortress Europe is very close.

On the 30th of April 2025 an old man from Ukraine in the deportation prison Kloten took his own life. He was justifiably afraid of being deported to another European country where he would not have received enough protection. The authorities knew that he is desperate, because he already had a suicide attempt when his protected status was withdrawn. But they did not care – the deportation machine had to go on.

Since then, two more desperate people in the deportation prison Kloten tried to commit suicide. On the 26th of May 2025 a young person from Algeria died in prison. Before that, he was on a hunger strike.

The kurdisch freedom fighter Baban Ali could leave prison after a one-week hunger strike.

We don’t want to endure the deaths on the borders, but also on the inside of Fortress Europe anymore. Stop!
