Autonomous School Zürich
Education for everyone: Self-organised. Emancipatory. Together.
The Autonomous School Zurich is a project against racism and injustice. For more than 15 years, we have been organizing free courses for everyone and creating a community space. We are independent of the state and politically active.
In addition to many courses, we also look after children, run a café and even have our own football team. So we’re always looking for help with the organization, but also offer space for self-realization and learning.
Regardless of your experience, skills, ethnicity, age, gender, etc., you are always welcome at the ASZ!
The ASZ also does political work outside the school:
Together with the Alliance against Racial Profiling, we are committed to combatting racial profiling in Switzerland. We also support the alliance “Wo Unrecht zu Recht wird…” (Where Injustice Becomes Law…). This alliance campaigns against the repressive emergency aid regime for rejected asylum seekers in the canton of Zurich. We are also part of the Justice for Nzoy alliance. Delegates of the ASZ are part of the committee that organizes the charity run “Lauf gegen Rassismus” (Race Against Racism) each year in Zürich, ASZ is among the organisations supported by this charity run.

“There must be a place for the autonomous school” – the ASZ in the university
It was both a familiar and unfamiliar picture that presented itself on Monday afternoon in the atrium of the University of Zürich. Familiar in the sense that more than a hundred people were gathered at the round tables studying their worksheets, learning vocabulary and engaging in lively discussions. Unusual in that most of them were…
